What Does A EKG Technician Do?

EKG Technicians are healthcare professionals who perform diagnostic tests that help doctors identify cardiovascular problems in patients. The tests can help discover any irregularities in the heart that could lead to a heart attack or heart disease.

EKG Technicians explain the test to patients prior to conducting it, monitor equipment during and after testing, collect data, assist cardiologists with identifying heart conditions, and provide professional patient care.

Where Does A EKG Technician Work?

EKG Technicians work in a variety of settings, which may include hospitals, heart centers or private practice offices. Technicians will collaborate with many other healthcare professionals, and there are opportunities to further specialize in other areas such as echocardiography, vascular technology and Holter monitoring.
